CAR PARKING

This is a matter of concern within our community and a definite bar to accessing some services. Horsham District Council is currently developing some helpful short-term solutions, this in response to a long term, community wide, problem. Discussions with West Sussex County Council have led us to feel that the required overall review of parking in Billingshurst is many years away.

Research Aims & Recommendations impacting upon the project:

• Address the challenges that parking in Billingshurst presents, ideally so that visitors feel confident that they will find a convenient short stay parking place.

Actions

1. Follow through the Horsham District Council plans to make
2. Short-term parking for 'locals' easier.
3. Ensure arrangements completed to provide business permit parking.
4. Encourage Network Rail to expand the capacity of the Station car park.
5. Consider options for extra short-term parking in the area of the station.
6. Review options for the use of the Jubilee Fields car park as 'long-stay' parking during the week. (This will need to be considered in conjunction with Project 9.)

Review with the Parish Council use of the land by the 'northern roundabout' as short-term overflow and long-term parking

Estimated Cost of Project:

£12,000 (Note these costs are the estimated cost of items 1 to 6 above in terms of overheads to carry out these actions. The costs of provision of any capital project arising can not be estimated at this time before these consultations are completed and those actions arising identified.
